In an emergency, your ability to recognize and to act quickly and effectively may be a matter of life and death for your pet. Living in Florida exposes your pet to some very significant and life threatening situations: Bufo Toad toxicity, venomous snakebites, and heat stroke.

These are true emergencies where you need to get your pet to a veterinarian as soon as possible.

Bufo Toad Toxicity

If your pet has been outside unattended and you find it salivating and staggering, it may have licked or bitten a non-native bufo toad. You need to wipe out your pet’s mouth with a wet wash cloth or sponge to clean the poison out of his mouth.

Do NOT use a water hose as you may drown him or drive the poison into his lungs. Get him to a veterinarian ASAP!
